Agriculture

Care farming is about using the benefits of a calm, outdoor environment with young people who are interested in animals, farming, crofting and the outdoors. A typical week in Agriculture could involve lambing, feeding and moving our flock of cheviot sheep or our overwintering cattle, tractor driving and estate maintenance.

Horticulture

Horticulture is the largest of our departments and is split into two groups. While the emphasis of being at Cantraybridge is about personal development and life skills, in this area you will learn these skills in the context of how to grow and maintain plants and vegetables, how to maintain a garden, work with the public, attend and display at horticultural shows and how to cook using what you have grown.

Woodwork

A thriving enterprise, the woodwork department is quite different to the other departments at Cantraybridge. Routines here are focused on using different tools to make crafts and wood products. In the last twelve months we have diversified our product range and have attended many local craft fairs and community events to promote and sell our work. To see a list of our range, click here.

• Today, we continue to provide high quality learning, care and support placements to young people in a wide range of vocational settings.

We offer a unique approach in providing services to people with learning and physical disabilities and we aim to provide a careful blend of learning, care and support services that cross traditional boundaries of what might be expected from a social care service and we remain committed to looking at the needs of the whole person in the context of their wider life situation and opportunities.
