HISTORY

Cantraybridge was established as a charity in 1994 providing support initially to just 2 individuals with additional support needs. There were 4 members of staff at that time and now (2025) there are 70 members of staff.

Cantraybridge has grown since that time to be a centre accommodating up to 40 young people per day. Our centre spans 19 acres and we have built up our training and development to include Animal Care, Horticulture, Wood Skills, Café skills and Creative Arts.

Our digital studio which also hosts our Karten Centre, was originally funded by the Ian Karten Charitable Trust. Karten Centres support adults with additional support needs with assistive technology, and we have received substantial grants over a number of years to continue our ongoing work with our young adults within the centre.

Our residential site at Cantray Square has capacity for 22 young people for development in Independent Living Skills.

We have also extended our services to include care in the community for our young people who have moved on from Cantraybridge, but still need that little bit of support to be able to live full inclusive lives. Cantraybridge own two houses in the community which are used for our young adults to live in, as the next stage to independent living.

We provide Housing Support for adults in the community under SDS Option 2 ISF Packages.
